Frequently Asked Questions

What differentiates the Parent SEEKER Paging System from others?

SEEKER works with our product manufacturing and sourcing to customize each paging solution to the specific market application. Each paging solution begins with the application and works backward to developing the correct paging solution. Many paging companies begin with the product and try to make it fit the application.

Can we expand our system later on by adding additional pagers?

Yes, a simple phone call or email is all that is needed to add more pagers. Your additional pagers will show up and the pagers will start with the next pager number. SEEKER uses a forward and backward compatibility approach, assuring our customers will not hear from SEEKER that you can not order more pagers because we’ve introduced a new product.

What is the difference in replaceable batteries verses the built in rechargeable batteries?

Rechargeable batteries are more convenient. When the pager is slipped into the charging rack, it enters a sleep mode. The pager wakes up when taken out of the sleep mode. The pager never has to be turned off, so it never has to be turned back on. The battery lasts 3 to 4 years. They will operate up to 8 hours on a charge. Either type battery is user-changeable and can be purchased from outside sources.

What is the range or coverage?

Range coverage for all wireless paging systems is based on several variables. Most UHF wireless systems quote up to 2 miles. The quotes are based on line of site with no obstructions. A realistic range for any UHF paging system is 1/4 to 1/2 mile. On-site tests have proven the 2-watt model PS3500 to provide the best coverage of any 2-watt transmitter.

Why is the UHF technology important?

There are 2 reasons:

a. The FCC regulates UHF more closely than the lower radio frequency range such as 27 megahertz. UHF will eliminate interference from equipment like police scanners and cordless microphones.

b. The UHF signal is strong enough to penetrate concrete and steel. Multiple buildings, multiple stories are no problem. You will find the pager no matter where it roams in your facility.

Will the system interfere with wireless microphones or our sound system?

The FCC has licensed different types of equipment to operate on different Frequency ranges. The frequency range for sound systems is different from wireless on-premise paging systems.

Will we have a problem with losing our pagers?

Most organizations, especially churches, build the return of the pager into their security process. For instance, the “all call” command, if used after services end, is a good reminder to parents that the parent who has the pager is the one who should return to get the child. Plus, the all call command can remind parents to pick up their children in a prompt manner.

How does the Parent SEEKER System work?

The transmitter looks like a desk-top calculator. Each pager is programmed to respond to a number. When you need the person holding pager #102, simply go to the transmitter and key that number. Once you press the send button or a function key, the signal is immediately sent to the pager and it begins to vibrate. There are no satellites or towers to relay the signal. There are no monthly fees. Focus remains on the job at hand (caring for children) and not the technology.
